I explore color, images, and perception to awaken childhood memories and evoke a sense of the surreal. Recalling her childhood memories, Lee finds them beautiful but also somewhat aching. Since everyone has a childhood, no one can return to that time. Lee used children's construction paper, a material commonly used in children's art classes but rarely encountered in adulthood, to evoke nostalgia and a sense of childhood for adults.
This work references the format of a children's book, and the size of this book reflects the sketchbook she used as a child. Throughout the book, certain parts are cut off, allowing viewers to see through the paper to the image below and sparking their imagination. This encourages viewers to explore the space between reality and imagination by experiencing the illusions. Viewers are invited to revisit childhood memories and temporarily relive the innocence and curiosity of it.
