Traces of Life
2025
I am intrigued by traces, marks left behind, visible or invisible, sharp or subtle. I believe trees leave their marks through shadows. Every moment, interaction, and aspect of life leaves an imprint on the world. Life's fragility and impermanence make me cherish fleeting moments. My work highlights these transient traces, questioning presence and absence.

I work with film, magnifying images to emphasize dye clouds, making visuals enigmatic. Some images are full-sized, others smaller, with blank space around them, encouraging flexible interpretation. These open-ended images resist easy recognition and invite close inspection. I use translucent layered paper, adding depth. Flipping pages projects underlying images onto top sheets, creating interaction. The book captures traces, time, and memory, inviting visual and tactile engagement.

Laser-engraved boards add sensory depth. Their textures and burnt scent evoke organic materials like wood, sand, or bark. Engraving mimics unseen, soft yet permanent memories, marking passing moments and leaving something to hold. Upon close inspection, they reveal a different world. Instead of specific images, both the book and boards evoke traces, subtly reflecting the world and life.
